Wordless Wednesdays

While this is not an original idea, I liked it and thought it would be a way to share some of the random things I catch on hard drive.

Happy Seven Month Birthday Baby Boy

You are seven months old today....where oh where has the time gone.

Not sure how this is even possible but you get cuter with each passing day. You have the most adorable dimples, the biggest smile, the cutest little teeth (that are not so cute when you are eating), and SUCH DETERMINATION.

You started crawling several weeks ago and boy can you move. There is nowhere you won't go including on top of brother's train track, much to his chagrin! I have had to step up my floor maintenance routine since you are constantly moving and putting every little thing in your mouth (dryer sheets, googly eyes, paper, shoes as well as any food that Muppet misses during meal time, which is typically only vegetables). You have started knowing us more it seems, it is fun to hear you squeal when I walk back into the room or have you crawl over to me and bat at my leg. You are also pulling up on things which is SCARY to me since you don't understand how easily you fall. You will eat just about anything but are loving Cheerios and cheddar rice cakes at the current moment. You experienced your first Easter this month, as well as your first mouthful of sand. You complete our little family and it is fun to watch you loving what we all love, mainly the outdoors. Every afternoon we go outside to play and you are content to sit or crawl in the grass, chew on mulch, watch brothers antics, etc. You LOVE to swing, much more than Matthew ever did. You make us laugh by doing yoga, I think your knees get tired from all the crawling, periodically I look over and see you in Downward Facing Dog position with the cutest little baby booty high in the air.

I love you more with each passing day and look forward to learning from you as we continue our journey together!

This is my favorite this month!!

Your favorite playmate....

Barbage

So, my tractor obsessed toddler has a new obsession.....garbage trucks?!?! Seriously, he goes nuts about "barbage". It is funny....but yet not so funny at times. I plan our Thursdays around the garbage man.....I purposely drive down the road that leads to the dump in an effort to increase the probability of seeing a garbage truck which will evoke sqeuals of delight. Who knew....this would be my life????

Eggs....shovels.....rakes.....and chocolate dipped marshmallows!!

Our Easter weekend was busy but we spent some much needed time together.

Superpowers

One of the "perks" of motherhood they don't tell you about is that you will develop some amazing superpowers when you become a parent. It seems kind of nice to offset the lack of sleep with the ability to kiss away boo boos, make a little persons day by fixing a toy...or getting the play-dough tub off the top shelf.

Poor Kid #2

I am pretty sure that first children do not realize how good they have it. In these first few months with our second child at home, I have made some observations as to how things are different for Kimber than they were for Matthew.

* Matthew enjoyed uninterrupted meals. Poor Kimber barely gets comfortable and Matthew needs milk, a playmate, a diaper change, etc, etc.

* Matthew was photographed at least 9000 times in his first three months and while I promised myself that Kimber would get the same treatment...reality is...he hasn't.

* Every toy in the house belonged to Matthew, poor Kimber gets told no less than 10 times a day that what he is crawling towards, looking at or drooling on is "mine" by big brother.

* It is very seldom that Kimber gets to rock alone with one of us. Matthew loved to rock and snuggle and Kimber does too, he just gets to do it with a 2 year old along for the ride!

To compensate for the things Kimber has not enjoyed, he LOVES his brother. I mean you can see it in his eyes, he stares at Matthew with complete adoration which of course makes me smile.

Storytime

Each week we visit the library and participate in toddler story time. Matthew actively participates and enjoys going and singing songs and listening to Ms. Maggie read us books.

A few days ago I walk into the living room and find Matthew sitting in his rocking chair "reading" a book to Kimber. He is even holding it out to the side and showing Kimber the pictures. It made me smile immediately and realize how much he is growing....and learning from what we DO.

"Baby sit......Mama dig"

Matthew took his time to start talking but boy oh boy has he made strides. He comes up with something new on an almost daily basis. Some of my favorite original quotes....

"Baby sit.....Mama dig"
So it is spring and that means our afternoons are spent digging up weeds, planting, and so many other outdoor tasks. Matthew loves to use a shovel, he also likes to watch me use a shovel. One afternoon, I felt Kimber had eaten enough mulch for the day so I was carrying him around while Matthew was playing and he looks at me and says the above. I cracked up....and of course had to reward his effort by putting another scoop of dirt in his dump truck!

"Side Mama"
Translation......I want to go outside, and I hear this no less than 5 times a day, and we spend A LOT of time outdoors.

"Matt gloves work side"
The boy loves wearing his gloves and so wants to be like Dad and go outside and work.
