And I quote...myself

You are not eating strawberries without underwear, go get underwear!

Get the bullets out of the dishwasher/bathtub/bed/shoes.

No, we cannot plant hot dogs in our garden.

Early Spring

Spring sprung pretty early this year, we have thoroughly enjoyed all of our outdoor adventures these last few months.  Before we know it the mosquitoes will arrive followed by the blinding heat.

Spring "Break" 2012

Once upon a time Spring Break was all about the beach, beer, relaxing..or not... for this broke college girl.

Anywho, the boys were on Spring Break from preschool this week and man did we pack a lot of productivity and fun into the "break".

This is how our "break" panned out:

Monday:

We spent the day at home and mowed our grass for the first time in 2012, Matthew actually steered the whole time!  We finished prepping the big garden bed, we pulled LOTS of weeds, we played the worlds longest UNO game,we planted some flower and vegetable seeds and enjoyed the sunshine.

Tuesday:

Our buddy Natalie came over to play today and we moved more mulch, went to the park, took a little hike, went and voted in the primary election, took Mauser the puppy for his shots, tried out Bruester's ice cream and rode our bikes and scooters.

Wednesday:

We went over to Natalie's and painted with pudding, slid on the slip and slide, frolicked in the sprinkler and played in the sandbox.

Thursday:

A million errands since we "played" all week.  Sports Authority, Target, bank, CPA's office, Home Depot, grocery store and Chic Fil A capped off by Matt's first Tee-Ball practice.  Kimber cheered him on..all decked out in his shinguards.

Friday:

We trekked up to Nashville to visit the zoo with our buddies Natalie, Addison, Jack and Ben.  After a rainy, then sunny perfect zoo day we headed home and enjoyed an awesome cookout with our buddies Lyla and Henry, complete with chicken legs and roasted marshmallows.

Saturday:

We moved some more mulch into the garden, installed the support for our peas and beans, pulled some more weeds, visited with the neighbors and went to bed early!

Sunday:

Church and then home for a break before tee-ball practice.

Mama, we've got movies!!!!!!!!!!!

This afternoon Matthew and I were sitting in the front of my car while Kimber snoozed a bit in the driveway and he was asking what every little thing was, the odometer, the fuel gauge, the bluetooth microphone, and on and on.  He flipped the sun visor down and slid the little door to access the mirror and literally shrieked with delight thinking he had discovered where the movies can be viewed in my car.  Poor guy was quickly disappointed, a car with movies is not high on the priority list around this joint.

And I quote

The things these boys say never fails to crack me up:

At Sam's today, after shopping we stopped to get them a pretzel at the snack bar, which is our tradition.

Me:  Kimber, do you want a salty pretzel or sugary pretzel?

Kimber:  I want PIZZA!

We borrow books and movies from the library each week and Matthew picked out Tarzan this week.  As he sits down to watch it he keeps wanting to know where Tarzan is and I repeatedly tell him which guy is Tarzan, to which he replies, "Mama, that is NOT Tarzan, he has princess hair and no dress".

Some Matthew-isms

He calls peanuts.... peanut butter nuts.

He is either going to be a storm trooper, captain america, darth vader, luke skywalker, Sher-Khan or chewbacca for Halloween, and these are just the ideas he has had in the last 24 hours.

I'm ready to plant seeds, now!

Some Kimber-isms

I have an idea (usually when he doesn't like what I have told him to do).

Papa, that chip not have handle (you know, the naked part of a chip after covering them with cheese), it's called a handle, apparently.

Mama, I have yogurt?

I beat you Matt/Mama/Papa, it seems every thing is a race these days.

Versatility

The boys got to pick out some foam swords at Target yesterday and in the last few hours I have discovered that foam swords have many functions, for example:

*  A bat

* A magic wand

* An umbrella

* An elephant trunk

I just wish I had some appliances that could be so versatile, like a washer that dried and ironed/steamed?

Supers Everywhere

You know, the cute Thomas the Train phase goes WAY TOO FAST!

In recent months Captain America, Spiderman, Kung Fu Panda, Wolverine, Jackie Chan and The Incredible Hulk have dominated play time (and dinner time) around this joint.

We have shields made from cardboard, the boys can shoot "spider-webs" with amazing accuracy and I am quickly learning the names of all these folks along with their place....good guy or bad guy.
