Little things

It really is ALL those little things that make this life so interesting.

We played Kimber up so that both boys are on the same baseball team this fall.......after keeping up with two different schedules during spring ball this is quite the relief.

Nana and Gramps made it to a game!

Such a cutie.

Post game snacks

Today, during our fact sheet portion of our math lesson, when each boy gets to do his sheet on a clipboard wherever he wants, I peek into the living room and those sweet boys are snuggled up together in my late grandmother's recliner working away...and I honestly don't believe they were even collaborating...just snuggling.

Between my own thrifting and my sweet mother in law's thrifting I have amassed quite the collection of cloth napkins.  There are certain favorites that make me smile....every single time we use them.  We keep a loaf pan on our dining table filled with these little beauties and those of you that know us know we are NOT fancy but they are used at almost every meal.

WEATHER, we just finished our third week of school and EVERY DAY this week we got to spend a considerable amount of time out of doors.  Mostly 70's and 80's all week.....we are definitely not in Texas anymore Toto!  I think the boys favorite daily activity is read aloud time in the treehouse, it just might be ABSOLUTELY IS my favorite too!

Baseball Season

It is that time of year again.  Baseball season is upon us.

We strive to be very intentional in what activities we choose to participate in.  We recognize that these years are short, formative and really want these guys to enjoy being kids but baseball is the thing they have both gravitated to so come spring we prepare ourselves for the craziness that is March, April and May.

Willie took the plunge and is helping coach Matthew's team.   He is doing a great job and to say his skill of patience is being tested is the truth but I think even he has been surprised by how much the kids have improved over the course of the season.

Matthew is in prep league, they get to attempt to hit three pitches from the coach and then get a chance off the tee.  He loves it and his skills are certainly getting better.  Many afternoons, when not at the ball field, I find myself playing catch with or pitching too this little guy.  He is developing a pretty good arm and every once in a while he gets a wince from me when I catch one of his zingers.

Kimber was thrilled to finally HAVE A TEAM.  After two years of cheering on big brother he certainly earned his time on the field.  He is not afraid to get in front of a ball and his throw is getting better each week.  He is on the Phillies and I will admit Tee-Ball is the cutest thing to watch!

"we need dirt"

This morning, after a few intense innings of living room baseball Matthew told me in the most serious tone he could muster that we needed dirt around "homeplate" for sliding in.

And here I thought I got extra points for playing baseball, in the living room, with him, before 7 AM??

Now he wants to import dirt...actually more dirt...into this house.

Let's Go RED SOX

In lieu of a traditional summer vacation for various reasons we decided to go see our beloved SOX take on the Atlanta Braves. We decided to go to 2 games and wondered just how smart we were in taking a squirmy almost 2-year old to a baseball game...in 98 degree heat.....150% humidity.....with a 8-month pregnant mommy.

We stayed at a hotel within walking distance of Turner Field. We realize now what a great choice that was, sitting in a hot car in traffic after the game would have been absolutely brutal. The hotel pool was also a life saver, not to mention the cleansing affect of the chlorine. We were some nasty sweaty peeps....

Matthew's first peek at a Baseball Game.

Happy Camper....thus far. Wondering when the promised hot dogs will arrive?

Admiring his Papa....he thinks that guy hung the moon.

The famous "funny smile".

While the first game was pretty easy.....the second game started at 1 PM.....which is sacred nap-time hour. We wondered how that would work and had already come up with a plan for me to head back to the hotel should the meltdown begin. We were pleasantly surprised...Matthew fell asleep in my arms before the game began and slept for about an hour. WOO HOO!!!! Of course when he awoke he was ready to GO GO GO. Thank goodness for the generous space that Turner Field has dedicated to smokers....with picnic tables and shade. We stayed busy and I bribed him with his very first FUNNEL CAKE and real COCA COLA. Talk about a sugar high.

Naptime....thank goodness for Willie's UV Shirt which provided much needed shade!!

The whole (HOT) crew!!

Bye Bye Turner Field

Making the trek back to the hotel.

Cooling off!!!!

Drying off....

All done....now to figure out dinner!!
